About South Downs Botanicals
South Downs Botanticals Mission
The South Downs National Park has been shaped by the people that have lived and used this area over the ages. We ourselves endeavour to maintain and where possible improve the natural resources that are already here for the better good of the environment. We wish for enjoyment of the area that is not harmful. Our standards of Safety, High Animal Welfare, Fine Food & Drinks and the Very Best Accommodation & Hospitality are foundational.
South Downs Botanticals Projects
We have many ongoing projects and plans…these evolve on an almost daily basis. We believe that our abilities to adapt are key to our successes.
Every year we are planting more hedges and trees, We’ve planted the new Juniper Forest and a new Orchard, also adding more Edibles and Botanicals whenever and wherever possible.
Learning the art of Mead & Gin production has been challenging and at the same time a lot of fun, we are working towards our South Downs Mead and South Downs Gin launching very soon.
The keeping of Bee’s we have found isn’t an exact science but is nevertheless enthralling…the Bee’s shall be making their own golden contribution to the Mead and Gin products.
The Perfect Location in South Downs
Located in the South Downs National Park we are in a special place. The South Downs Way follows the chalk escarpments of the South of England, running 160km from Winchester to EastBourne and is one of 16 National Trails.
Situated very close to the Goodwood Estate there access to Goodwood House, Goodwood Motor Circuit, Goodwood Hotel and Goodwood Horse Racing Course can all be easily enjoyed.
Being on the outskirts of Chichester is very fortunate, with the city centre just 10 minutes drive there are many attractions to visit including the spectacular Cathedral, Festival Theatre and Pallant House Gallery.
Arundel is equally distant too with the Castle, beautiful river and marshlands to be explored.
Exploring Weald and Downland Living Museum is recommendable.
The magnificent and renowned beaches at Wittering, Climping and Pagham are also within easy distance by road. Not forgetting to mention Chichester and Itchenor Harbours and Dell Quay.
The train links via Barnham and Chichester are convenient.
Lots to enjoy
Many events take place in the South Downs National Park, we are proud to support and attend as many of these events as possible ourselves and are planning to host some of our own events at South Downs Botanicals soon.
